the writing process: Save Time on Your Writing

7/27/2016

Save Time on Your Writing
As early as 4 years old, people are taught the basics of writing. Writing skills just improve as you grow older, because practice does make perfect when it comes to writing. Content becomes more meaningful as you learn from experience and can make more connections to life and learning.

Writing can be a challenging task: there are days when writing ideas flow smoothly, and there are seasons when you find it difficult to write. But the better that you can be at following The Writing Process, the easier your life as a writer will be.

So, how can you save time in writing? Most writers maximize their time with good time management skills. Whether you are a student or a professional, you have the power to plan out your schedule ahead of time: as a student, you have time to plan out your essay homework, and as a professional, it is a must to create time for report writing.

Being organized helps enormously in the writing process. You can focus on your writing when you have a neatly, organized work atmosphere, a set time to write, and few distractions to pull you away from your desk. The inspiration to write will flow more naturally the better set up you are.

When you have the time management and organization skills, you will be able to work more efficiently. You can compose ideas easily and make them comprehensible to the reader; now you have the writing process working for you. Writing will become more innate and the writing process will naturally be part of your system: brainstorm, plan, draft, edit & revise, and present.

It is important to follow the writing process to make the task easier. It will save you a lot of time if you will follow the writing process:

1. Collect ideas or Brainstorming
Brainstorming is very important in writing, research or even in a simple office meeting. It’s always better to start by gathering ideas, as these will make up most of your content. Gather as many ideas as possible from different sources.

2. Plan out your ideas
In the writing process, planning makes everything flow smoothly. With all the data gathered, the next question is how to organize the content into a logical plan. Writers tend to hold onto one planning style and use it throughout their careers, so find which planner works the best for you: formal outline, notecards, sticky post-it notes, Venn diagram, mind map, and so on.

3. Compose a rough draft
Creating a rough draft will make you see errors and areas for improvement in your written work. A rough draft is seeing your work in progress, which sure feels exciting to see those words on the page for the first time. It will save you time since you have detected errors early on by using just a bit of organization like writing in organized paragraphs.

4. Edit and Revise
Never forget to edit and revise accordingly. This is the final step to make sure that your work is error-free, and if your rough draft is particularly raw will take the longest of the writing process steps to complete. It will save you great amount of resources when you repeatedly go over your work to edit and revise.

5.Presentation
When you have undergone all the previous steps in the writing process, your written work is now ready for publication or presentation. There is no more room for error at this stage. Share your writing and be proud of the positive effect it has.

Everyone has a different writing style, but, writing task will be easier if you follow the writing process. It will surely keep you focused, organized and efficiently impart your ideas through a perfect writing piece.
