I’ve never taken an online course before. What should I expect?

The course is set up into nine units, each one covering a different topic of the writing process. The instruction is a mixture of written content, videos, and info-graphics. Students move from start to finish or can move straight to the content that they need right away. The course is self-paced and online. It can be accessed anywhere there is internet connection.

When can I take the course?
Anytime that it is convenient for you. There is no mandatory times to show up for live instruction because all of the instruction is laid out in advance for students beforehand. Work when it fits your schedule best.

Where is the course located?
The course is located on a learning management system called Teachable. Students can access the system anytime 24/7 from any location with internet.

Is Teachable easy to use?
Yes, hundreds of thousands of students have taken courses on Teachable. It is an intuitive system that is easy to maneuver and includes a user guide.

What if I can’t start the course right away?
No problem. The course is open for students to begin at any time it is convenient.

What if I don’t finish on time?
There is no required finish time. Students may take as long as they like to complete the course.

Does the course come with a book?
Yes, there is a PDF copy of The Simple Guide to the Writing Process included in the course.

Do I need any supplies?
No supplies are needed.

Should I take notes?
Most people report that they learn better when they take notes. Study skills like note taking are a personal preference, so if taking notes works for you, do it.

Will there be homework or assignments?
No, the course is a self-study course. All work is integrated within the system.

What if I have a question?
Students may reach out to the instructor via email at any time for help.
