The Purpose of Essay is to Defend the Thesis Statement

Defend The Thesis Statement
There are different ways to formulate a thesis statement. It actually varies depending on the purpose. For students writing an essay, construction of the thesis statement can make or break their grade. For professional writers, it can be a start of a promising career.

Whoever the readers are, the most important thing is to remember the ultimate purpose of your thesis statement.

Essays are most popular when applying for college. But, even elementary and high school students get a taste of writing an essay even as a class requirement. For the novice writers, it is best to start with “I feel”, ‘I think” or “I believe”. This is a good start to give a background of your essay.

After you have established your ideas, you may present your thesis statement by removing the above mentioned phrases. This is essential to make a firm point of view. Always remember that essays need to be dynamic. You have to present ideas that will support your thesis statement. Concepts should be constructed to defend your opinion.

On the other hand, the more experienced writers tend to put in more effort in composing their essays. As you grow in writing experience, stronger and more compelling statements are expected. Your statements should appear well-thought of. It should engage the readers to think deeply. Choice of vocabulary matters for the experienced writers.

It is understandable that young writers spend some time in composing essays. Experts take time in composing their thoughts. After a few days, they continue writing good quality essays. Whether first-time or professional writers, both have the same purpose of writing essays and that is, to defend a thesis statement.

Starting with powerful data is a good way to start your statement. It means that you have researched well on the topic. It gives a professional view to your readers. It is also important to present opposing ideas. This entices the readers to agree or disagree on the topic.

Writing essays can be a tedious task, but deep understanding of the topic can help you construct good quality essays. Knowing the purpose and audience can also stimulate your thought process. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned writer, writing an essay is a constant activity. The actual challenge is how well you can defend your thesis statement.
